The 98-acre Manhattanville College campus is located in the Purchase section of the Town of Harrison, first holding classes in the residence (known as the Castle) on the former Whitelaw Reid estate in 1952.  Since that time, the College’s programs and facilities College have expanded to keep pace with the evolution of its mission and outreach. DTS has provided planning, engineering, and landscape architectural services for Manhattanville since 2007, beginning with coordination of the environmental review and Town approvals for an updated Master Plan that included circulation and parking improvements and support facilities, as well as future building and site projects.

Manhattanville projects for which DTS has provided planning, design and construction period support include:

  • The LEED Gold-Certified Berman Student Center designed by Peter Gisolfi Associates
  • The Othnell Environmental Center, which included the restoration of an historic chapel and the construction of an environmental classroom designed by Maya Lin
  • Various sports and play facilities, including an artificial turf field designed with perimeter footings to support a removable dome enclosure for winter use
  • The installation of elevated solar panels to serve as car ports over campus parking areas, and ground-mounted panels over an existing stormwater management basin, the combination of which garnered a Westchester Municipal Planning Federation Commendation Award in 2019

Our integrated, strategic approach to project planning and implementation balances the concerns of the land owner, the community, and the environment with the specific characteristics of the site, enabling us to create intelligent land use solutions.
