DTS Goes Native at WCC

The DTS planning and planting crews are at it again – this May 16th the main entrance of the Gateway Center at the Westchester Community College received a complete landscape makeover comprised of a full complement of native trees, shrubs and groundcover. With landscape plans prepared by Donna Maiello and Samantha Kepke and coordinated with WCC Native Plant Center Director Carol Capobianco, all DTS hands were on deck – or rather in the dirt – working shovel-by-shovel with the WCC Physical Operations staff to transform the west entry of the Gateway Center into a blooming advertisement for the Native Plant Center. Said Director Capobianco, “A week before Christmas we met for the first time to discuss a potential “do-it-in-a-day” landscape project at WCC.

Now, just five months later—almost to the day—the front of the Gateway building has been transformed from a sorry-looking site to a sight to behold. What a day it was today! Thank you for your vision, support, cooperation, and spirit, illustrating that collaboration and team work lead to success.” For more information on the Native Plant Center, click here and for the Gateway Center, click here.
