Landscape Architecture

The landscape architectural services provided by Divney Tung Schwalbe often begin at the inception of a project.  They may include the inventory and analysis of existing natural and man-made conditions at a site prior to property acquisition or in conjunction with subsequent master planning studies to consider overall program and site relationships and capacity.

Divney Tung Schwalbe's landscape architects also work hand-in-hand with our site engineers to provide integrated site design services.  Both the "soft" landscape and "hard" engineering aspects of the site plan, such as the protection of a site's natural features, reshaping of the land's contours, and provision of exterior use areas, evolve simultaneously, so that the final “low impact development” (LID) design is the result of the balancing of the two disciplines.  For many projects we prepare planting plans for upland and wetland areas to blend the proposed development into the existing landscape, as well as to help mitigate potential impacts of construction. Our plans feature the use of native plant materials to reduce water and maintenance requirements and to help restore local ecologies. During the construction phase of the project, our staff will provide landscape inspection services at the nursery or site.

Effective communication of analysis data and design concepts is an important aspect of our landscape services.  Utilizing our MicroStation CADD system with complementary modeling and graphic programs, we can compare existing and proposed topography, building forms and landscape treatments.  We can also prepare rendered landscape plans, 3-D fly-throughs, and “before and after” visual simulations for use in client, public forum, or marketing presentations.
